Cataract Surgery Support

Millions of people lose their vision because they cannot undergo surgery due to technical and financial difficulties in their regions, and they live their lives dependent on others. That's why, as Hiranur Association, we have surgery on our brothers and save them from darkness with the support of our helpful donors.

Make a financial donation, too, and let's fight against cataracts together with your donations. Let's be a light to the eyes of thousands of our brothers and sisters with a simple surgery.

Why are cataracts so common in Africa?

In Africa, due to hot weather, nutrition and climate conditions, many people lose their ability to see due to cataracts at a young age. When the inadequacy of ophthalmologists and treatment opportunities is added to this, many patients, especially in rural areas, live in darkness without being able to undergo surgery.

1% of Africa's population of 1.05 billion is blind. Half of the 10 million blind people in Africa suffer from cataracts. In Africa, only one in every 2,000 people with cataracts can receive treatment. In some African countries, this figure drops even further.

18 million people in the world have cataracts, and the majority of cataract patients live in underdeveloped countries.
