Water well

 

Drought and water scarcity have taken many countries in Africa and Asia captive. In some areas, people have to walk for kilometers to reach wells in remote villages because even though there is water in their villages, it is not clean and drinkable or clean water is available only in wells in church gardens. Moreover, when they try to meet their water needs from rivers, they are faced with many life-threatening dangers such as drowning and attacks by wild animals. In some regions, people unfortunately lose their lives because they consume dirty water.

 

 

As Hiranur Ilm and Service Association, we have not turned a blind eye to the humanitarian crisis our brothers and sisters are experiencing. Since the day we started our activities to put an end to their suffering, we have opened hundreds of water wells with the support of our philanthropists, and we have been instrumental in the hope of thousands of oppressed people who were eagerly waiting for a helping hand to reach them through these wells to blossom.

How Do We Build Water Wells?

  • Through the meticulous investigations conducted by our international team, areas and villages where access to clean and drinkable water is lacking are identified. In addition, villages that request a water well are also examined on site.
  • Suitable areas for opening water wells and for public use are identified.
  • Priority rankings for regions are determined, taking into account the identified needs.
  • Construction of the water well begins, and the well is opened for use as soon as possible, providing our oppressed brothers and sisters with access to clean water.
  • After the water well is completed, a nameplate is hung on the well that our donor has determined to contribute to its construction.
  • Images and videos of the opening and use of the well are delivered to our donor.

Technical Specifications of Water Wells:

  • Depth: 15 to 90 meters
  • Number of beneficiaries: 300 to 500 people per day
  • Fountain Type Water Well: Extracted from 400 meters, artesian well, 18-faucet fountain, extracted by drilling method, electric pump is used
  • Hand Pump Type Water Well: Extracted from 30-40 meters, manually dug, hand pump, surface well
  • Surface Construction: Concrete body, hand pump (tulumba), animal trough (Water wells are generally built using a hand pump (tulumba) and an animal trough. Water wells are built according to a certain surface concept as standard. However, depending on the conditions of some regions, a different concept and pump type can be used.)

Opening Time of Water Wells
Construction of water wells takes about 6 to 9 months. However, the completion time of the work may vary depending on the difficulties that may arise in the region (war, natural disasters, etc.).

The prices of our wells and fountains vary depending on the technical specifications and lifespan mentioned above and vary depending on the well and fountain project. Depending on factors such as the distance of the location where the water well will be built to the center, the prices and accessibility of the materials in the country where they will be opened, soil type, and drilling depth, prices may vary.

We aim to open water wells in BENIN, BURKINA FASO, CHAD, ETHIOPIA, GHANA, CAMEROON, KENYA, NIGER, SOMALIA, TANZANIA, UGANDA in Africa, and in countries facing disasters and emergencies such as BANGLADESH and SRI LANKA in Asia. For now, we continue our activities in Africa where the need is highest.

Our association carries out its activities without discrimination based on religion, language, or race. Similarly, although many people of different religions live in the countries where our wells are opened, we especially carry out our work on well and fountain projects centered around mosques in Muslim-majority areas.

The opening time of our wells and fountains varies depending on factors such as the distance of the well or fountain from the center, the supply of materials in the country where it will be opened, the drilling depth, and the seasonal conditions of the region. It is aimed to be completed within an average of 6 to 9 months. Our association officials go to the region where the well is located and carry out its opening after making necessary inspections.

If you cover the entire cost of the well and fountain or more than 1/4 of certain well projects, you can name the water well and fountain as you wish.

If you fund a well or fountain on your own or donate more than one-fourth of the cost of certain well projects, videos of the well will be sent to you via SMS when it is opened for every donation made to the well.

The water wells and fountains are inspected by our staff who go to the country at certain intervals each year. The deficiencies detected are covered by our association's resources for the first 5 years. As each water well and fountain has its own identity, it can be easily tracked and maintained.

As Hiranur Association, in addition to digging wells, we also provide scholarships for memorization of Quran for children who cannot go to school due to financial difficulties both inside and outside the country. We first meet their needs for nutrition, clothing, shelter, and health, and then we help them become useful hafizes who will benefit their region and ummah of Muhammad. With our "Emergency Aid Fund", we support our disadvantaged brothers and sisters who are affected by natural disasters such as floods, fires, earthquakes, landslides, wars, and oppression, by meeting all their needs. We distribute the 3000 hot meals from our soup kitchen and 3000 large loaves of bread from our bakery to students of Islamic studies, people in need, and other Quranic schools within our organization. We distribute the entrusted zakat, fitrah, and fidyah of our benefactors to the real needy people carefully identified by our association to turn their hopelessness into hope and show that we are by their side in their difficult struggles. We undertake the modesty of many children who are determined to progress in the path of knowledge, and we meet all their needs, including their clothing needs, in our educational institutions both inside and outside the country. Throughout the year, we deliver the vacip, adak, aqiqah, and thanksgiving sacrificial animals entrusted to us by our benefactors to needy families. With the sacrifices, we bring smiles and abundance to the tables of the oppressed. We distribute copies of the Quran to our student children who cannot reach the printed version of the Quran. In the poor countries where we carry out our work, we quickly roll up our sleeves to meet the needs such as mosque, madrasah, orphanage, and home, which we have identified as necessary, and we complete our buildings that have architecture suitable for the region's geographical conditions and make them available for our brothers and sisters to use.
 

Every year in Africa, millions of people fall ill and unfortunately lose their lives due to unhealthy water that they travel kilometers to collect. Let's contribute to providing a drop of water to arid lands through your donations.

In Africa, where drought ravages the land, our brothers and sisters have to travel miles in the hope of finding a drop of clean water. The daily lives of those who cannot access clean water are disrupted, and they struggle even to meet their basic needs. As a result, they lose their health, and sometimes even their lives. To put an end to the suffering of our African brothers and sisters, we are opening water wells in many dry regions of Africa, especially in countries such as Chad, Uganda, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and Burkina Faso.

Our volunteer overseas team carefully identifies the dry areas and villages ahead of time, and then they work on the preparation of the areas where a water well can be opened. The population of the village, their needs, and their vital functions are taken into consideration, and priority is determined. Based on the work carried out, our oppressed brothers and sisters are connected to clean water. Once the water well is completed, visual and video content is delivered on behalf of our donors.

 

 

Let's share the problems of our Muslim brothers and sisters in Asia. Due to living conditions, the people in the region have to struggle with multiple difficulties at the same time. People walk kilometers to access clean water, and sometimes they fall ill and lose their lives due to consuming contaminated water.

Hiranur Ilm and Service Association, under the motto "One Drop of Hope, Thousands of Lives," opened 648 water wells in 2021, providing access to clean water for approximately 250,000 people. We facilitated the emergence of hope for living in the hearts of thousands of families and tens of thousands of needy oppressed people.
